House Points

House points are in place, rewarding academic and non-academic achievement such as resilience, effort, caring for others, good manners and contributions to lessons.

Each classroom has a house point chart showing both the individual child and team they belong to. House points are given in conjunction with the behaviour ladder and for demonstrating positive learning behaviours, both individually and collectively in recognition of cooperative learning behaviours. House points can also be given out by other teaching staff for positive behaviour demonstrated outside of the classroom i.e. holding the door open for others and demonstrating one of the Coppice Values.

House points are added to the class house point chart using a tally system.  Each team’s (Kites, Hawkes, Falcons, Golden Eagles and Harriers) house points are collected at the end of each week and the winning house is awarded with the house trophy in the Whole School Celebration assembly each week. The House trophy is then displayed in the main entrance areas of the infant and junior buildings.  At the end of each term the house with the highest total of points overall is rewarded with a treat to celebrate their achievement. This is arranged collaboratively by the House Advocates and the SLT.

Each of the houses supports a charity which is as follows:

Hawks: Chigwell Riding Trust

Falcons: Pinewood Residential

Harriers: Water Aid

Kites: Rainbow Trust

Eagles: Guide Dogs
