Anti-Racism
We are committed to being an actively anti-racist school, where every child feels valued, respected and proud of who they are. We celebrate diversity and work hard to ensure that our curriculum, teaching and school environment reflect and respect the rich range of cultures, identities and experiences within our community and beyond. We believe it is important to talk openly about fairness, equality, equity and inclusion, helping our pupils to understand and challenge discrimination in all its forms.
By working together with families, we aim to nurture a community where everyone feels they belong and where children grow into thoughtful, compassionate and socially aware individuals.
We encourage families to continue these important conversations at home. Sharing books together is a powerful way to help children explore themes of identity, kindness and respect. Some recommended titles for primary-aged children include:

As part of our ongoing commitment to being an actively anti-racist school, we are continuing to invest in the professional learning of our staff team. We are currently working in partnership with Hemisphere to deepen our understanding of racism and ensure that our practice continues to be inclusive, informed and reflective.
Last academic year, our training focused on exploring the experiences of Black individuals, helping staff to develop a greater awareness of historical and contemporary issues, as well as how these may impact children and families within our school community.
This year, our learning is centred on the experiences of South Asian individuals. Through this work, we are continuing to build our knowledge, challenge assumptions, and strengthen our ability to provide an equitable and respectful environment for all.
We recognise that this is ongoing work, and we remain committed to continuous learning and reflection to ensure our school is a place where everyone feels seen, heard and valued.
