Our Makaton Journey

Makaton is a language programme that uses signs, together with speech and symbols, to enable people to communicate. With Makaton, signs are used alongside speech.

As we are an inclusive school and have lots of children who benefit from the use of Makaton, it is essential that as a whole school community we begin our Makaton journey!

Each week we will introduce a new sign to both our pupils and school community.

Over the course of the year, as a whole school community, we will have built up a bank of commonly used signs that will be used regularly within our school.
