Welcome to Year 3!
School Closure Learning Support Ideas
To all our children and families,
We hope you are keeping well and making the most of your family time together. These are unprecedented times, keeping our families safe and healthy are priorities for all of us.
Don't forget that we do not expect your days at home to run exactly how our days in school would usually run. It is great to have some sort of structure to your day - to get up and dressed and to try and fit in some reading, maths and English (and of course some exercise!) each day but please try to enjoy this time at home too. Read books together, get messy in the kitchen, learn a new skill or make up a new game to play with family members over a video chat!
I'm sure by now you will have found lots of home learning activity ideas shared through various websites. Have a look at the useful links section for lots of free ideas.
We are loving seeing all of your rainbow pictures - please keep emailing them to us!
Remember if you have any questions you can email us at email@example.com.

3FG Visit to Hainault Library
W/C 16.09.19 This term we are learning about the ‘Stone Age’. We went into the nature garden and used natural resources and string to create our own Stone Age tools. Have a look at below to see what we made.
W/C 23.09.19 During this week we have been learning about fossils and on Wednesday 25th September the children took part in a Fossils workshop with a company called Geobus! The children learnt about a range of different fossils and made their own ammonite or trilobite fossils using salt dough. The children were all engaged and enjoyed both making and looking at a range of different fossils.
Stone Age Day
On Friday 15th November the children will be taking part in a 'Stone Age' workshop. Please find attached a document to support you with costumes for the day.
Stone Age Day
On Friday 15th November Year 3 took part in 'Stone Age' day. The children took part in a range of activities throughout the day which they all thoroughly enjoyed. Cathy from Gripping History was fantastic getting the children engaged starting the morning off with letting them join in with the chronology of the Stone Age to the Iron age in which the children joined in and dressed up too! They also got the chance to look at a range of artefacts, prehistoric houses, having a better understanding of life at home during the Stone Age and even got the chance to do some hunting using bows and arrows! The children as always did us proud in which they were very respectful throughout the whole day.
Year 3 Iron Man Drama Workshop
This term the children have really enjoyed reading The Iron Man in English. Recently they took part in a drama workshop led by David from Redbridge Drama Centre. Focusing on different acting techniques and skills, they worked individually and in groups to act out parts from the book and performed them in front of the rest of the class. The workshop really helped them gain a better understanding of the book. They really enjoyed the workshop and all children were very enthusiastic.
Science Magic Show
On Wednesday 22nd January Year 3 had a visit from a Science Magician. They were treated to a magic show which the children loved and there were plenty of 'ooohhss' and 'aaahhs'! They were taught some tricks of their own connected to our science topic of 'Light' and then had a workshop where they made spectrometers and were able to see a rainbow in a box!
Year 3 had a very exciting Egyptian Day with Mark from 'Portals of the Past'. They learnt about the history and geography of Ancient Egypt. They also took part in a gruesome mummification ceremony and hunt! They also tested their knowledge with a quiz, measured like an Ancient Egyptian and played a game. The children had a brilliant day and all looked amazing in their costumes.
